Who is Moshe Yanai?

Moshe Yanai is a former tank division commander in the Israeli army who joined EMC in 1987, where he designed and built the first Symmetrix storage system, which is still a mainline product of EMC and now called the "DMX" series.

Yanai was the Symmetrix VP of engineering for ten years, as well as an EMC Fellow and reporting directly to CEO Joe Tucci. Moshe Yanai also owns several patents for Symmetrix technology and today's DMX4 arrays still use that technology.

Doron Kempel and Yanai both left EMC in 2001 and began working with 5 graduates of Talpiot. Talpiot is an elite Israeli academic program for the sciences, physics, and mathematics. Moshe Yanai also formed Diligent from EMC's R&D lab in Israel in June, 2002 whihc has been also brought under the IBM umbrella and is now marketed as ProtecTIER..

Moshe Yanai is a 'big hitter' in storage terms in developing the next paradigm of storage with IBM's XIV. He is now an IBM Fellow.
