Included as another standard feature of the IBM XIV Storage system is Remote Mirroring for Disaster Recovery. The XIV system's remote mirroring capability provides a flexible, cost effective, simple to implement, and simple to test solution for a disaster recovery site. The IBM XIV system's remote mirroring provides total protection, even against complete site failure situations. The IBM XIV system offers synchronous remote mirroring with broad support: • Mirroring can be performed over FC or iSCSI • The mirroring protocol is agnostic to the host protocol (allows mirroring via iSCSI volumes served by FC, and vice versa) • Simple and intuitive management for changing roles • Testing of a secondary site without stopping the mirroring • Low granularity – any to any volume replication • Every IO is committed to local and remote copies before completion • Various policies upon link failure
